Shop Mechanic – Northern Virginia

An established commercial services and construction support company is seeking an experienced Shop Mechanic to join our growing operations team in Northern Virginia.

We maintain a large fleet of vehicles, construction equipment, and small-engine tools that support commercial, retail, and property maintenance operations throughout the region. We are looking for a dependable, safety-focused mechanic with strong troubleshooting and repair experience who takes pride in quality work and teamwork.

Position Summary

  • The Shop Mechanic is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and servicing of a wide range of vehicles and construction equipment.
  • This role includes both shop and occasional field service work.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and drivetrain issues across multiple equipment types.

Responsibilities – Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and maintain a safety-first work environment
  • Follow company policies and applicable DOT regulations
  • Report safety concerns and maintain organized work areas

Responsibilities – Maintenance & Repair

  • Perform routine and advanced maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment
  • Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, PTO systems, hydraulics, and electrical systems
  • Perform brake, suspension, charging system, and alignment repairs
  • Troubleshoot and repair small equipment, forklifts, and material handling equipment
  • Complete inspection reports, work orders, and maintenance records accurately

General Shop Duties

  • Maintain clean and organized workspaces
  • Care for assigned tools and company equipment
  • Assist with general shop upkeep and support tasks as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of mechanic experience preferred
  • Experience with commercial vehicles and construction equipment strongly preferred
  • Ability to diagnose hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 90 lbs
  • Ability to stand, bend, crouch, and work in varying weather conditions
  • Comfortable working around active equipment and construction environments

Compensation & Schedule

  • Full-time position
  • Monday–Friday
  • Hours: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM
  • Compensation: $27–$32/hour based on experience

Additional Requirements

  • Pre-employment drug screening required
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Position available immediately
